I’d have to say that this is my favorite commercial because there is a Filipino man in the background yelling. There are four guys at a tuxedo shop trying to get their measurements. Then, the man notices that one guy in the mirror is eating Skittles. The Filipino guy starts yelling at the tailor from the mirror. It’s so funny. Sometimes I try to figure out what he’s saying but he’s talking too fast. I think that this commercial is like a parody. I’m not so sure, but it seems like it because it’s funny. =)
For my historical figure, I had to research on Francisco Baza Leon Guerrero. It was a little hard to find out information about him because not that many people wrote about his life. I went to the Micronesian Area Research Center and to the Agana library to gather more information. I also asked an historian, Tony Palomo, about F. B. L. G.It was really hard putting all the information together to create the website. I think that I could have done a lot better if I found a little bit more information about him. It would have also been nice if our website had a video of us interviewing Mr. Tony Palomo in person. I just had to call because he was very busy. I should have made our website more informative and more eye catching.
I think that our group should have been more proactive since the beginning of the project. We should have used our time more effectively. Our group shouldn’t have been playing or joking around when we were doing our research. To be honest, I think that we did good. I thought that the information was good enough. I do think that we should have used for graphic stuff like a watermark picture for our background. When I saw Jennifer’s groups’ project, I was just amazed. Their layout was so pretty and stuff. I already knew that they were going to win.
If I were to create another website, I think that I would write about a person who is my inspiration in whatever I do in life. I would write about my sister Pamela. She has always been there for me through the ups and the downs. She helps me in school work and in personal matters. I can always count on her to be there for me no matter what. So yeah, I would write about her.
If I were to choose a historical figure it would have to be Teresa Magbanua y Ferraris. She was the only woman to lead combat troops in the Visayas against Spanish and American forces. It makes me proud to hear this because she was Filipino just like me. It really says something to me, but it’s a little hard to explain. I just think that it’s great to have a Filipino woman take charge of something so important. It also says that women are important to our history just like men. I would choose somebody important to me not like some others, I don’t want to mention names, but those people who chose serial killers and people like that. Haha. I’m just kidding!
Here are 10 links that show history facts about her:
For a project, I had to find the best theme park to go to in California. Some of the theme parks that I looked at were Universal Studios, Disneyland, Paramount’s Great America and Six FlagsMagic Mountain. I chose Six Flags Magic Mountain to be the best theme park to go to for a family of 4 on a budget. The price was $179.96 for two children and two adults. This theme park looks very fun to go to, and it’s pretty cheap.
What’s cool about Six Flags is that once you walk inside, you can see six flags. I find that very hilarious. Once you enter, you can also see their huge rollercoaster. Some people say that it looks like a snake. You can also ride the Tidal Wave which is just sliding in a log looking chair in water. It look cool. The one ride that I really want to ride is the Zipper-rollercoaster. It looks super scary but it I want to at least try it out. The view looks really nice and calming.
Bullying is one of the problems we have in school. So, we were taught about the dangers of bullying. There were many guess speakers who came to talk to us. They discussed the many ways people could get bullied, and the results of them. There were three ways somebody could be bullied: Physically, Verbally and Non-Verbally. They told us about a girl who committed suicide because she was being cyber-bullied by her neighbor.
There were many ways that this workshop could have been improved. First of all, it shouldn’t have been three hours long. If they wanted us to learn, they shouldn’t have taken so long because then, the students won’t be interesting anymore. They also shouldn’t repeat themselves. Every presenter talked about the same things. It would get annoying. Also, the presenter should talk more loudly and clearly. It was very difficult to hear what they were saying.
I. Family is important
A. Family comes first
1. I spent time with my Uncle Bitel who stays in Mangilao.
2. I didn’t really hang out with my neighbor because I was with
my family.
B. Family gathering
1. My aunties and uncles visited our house on Christmas Day.
2. We had a party on New Years Eve with our relatives on Guam.
II. How to decorate a Christmas tree
A. How to put it up
1. My mom and I had to look for the color marks on the branches to
match it on the stem of the tree.
2. We had to put the branches on the stem very carefully, or the
leaves on the branches would fall.
B. Decorations
1. My mom picked out the color theme for our tree and chose certain
ornaments.
2. We hung different colored ornaments all around our tree and put a
huge star on top.
I learned a couple of lessons during my Christmas Break. The first thing that I learned was that family time is important and that they come first. I spent time with my Uncle Bitel who stays all the way in Mangilao. I didn’t really hang out with my god-brother, Angel, because I was with my family the whole time. My family and I had a small gathering with my aunties and uncles at my house on Christmas day. We also had a party on New Year’s Eve with all of our relatives on Guam.
The other thing that I learned was how to decorate a Christmas tree. When we had to put it up, my mom and I had to look for the color marks on the branches to match it on the stem of the tree. Next, we had to put the branches on the stem very carefully, or else the leaves would fall. When it came for decorating, my mom picked out her color theme for our tree and chose certain ornaments. We hung different colored ornaments all around our tree and placed a huge star on top.
There are many ways to take a good photo. It really depends on how you want it. If you want to take an up-close picture, you can use the macro feature. This feature allows you to zoom in a little closer than usual so that it doesn’t get blurry. You should also use the auto-focus feature. It allows you to focus on a piture automatically. You can also use fill-flash to take good pictures in the dark. When you need to take pictures up close, you can use digital zoom to really zoom in on it. One of my favorite ways to take a picture is using depth of field. It focuses on an object while the background is blurry.
When taking a good photo, you want to try to avoid some effects, unless you like it. The picture might have red-eye, or pixelization, or noise. Those kind of effects are the ones that you want to avoid. Other effects that you would liek to have in your photo is exposure, contrast, and resolution. They are good ways to describe the photo that you took.
For my survey, I asked what their favorite colors were, favorite sport, & what was their nationality. I asked these questions because I wanted to know what they were. Some people liked other sports than what I asked on my survey. Some liked swimming and others liked softball or baseball. Most of the people chose the color(s) “Rainbow” because it is very colorful. Some of them said black because they are emo… Just Kidding. I was very shocked when I found out that there were no full Americans in our class. I should have asked what their enthicity was, but that was my mistake.
I found Ritacia’s survey very interesting because it had the “bestest” questions ever. It always talked about me in some kind of way. She always says that her survey is better, but we all know whos survey really is. I think that Ritacia and I put these questions because we didn’t know what else to put. I guess “Great Minds Think Alike”.
During the activity, I went into Mrs. Gumataotao’s classroom. There were many students there inside doing there own thing. Some students were playing cards, playing video games, and break dancing. It was very crazy in there. The classroom was so noisy and crowded, but it was fun. Ritanna and I didn’t really do anything in there. We just sat there and watched the boys act dumb. It was so awkward when they were jumping on each other. After the activity ended, we all went to our homebase.
I interviewed three people on how they felt about the activity. All of them didn’t really like the activity. Armaine H., and 8th grade student, said, “The dance sucked because of the DJ, but the rest of the day was good.” Michael C. said, “It was so fast. It was also kind of boring. It wasn’t as fun as before.” Noelle B. said, “It sucked like crazy!” As you can see, the dance wasn’t all that. Some other students said that it wasn’t good because of the sponsers. They said that Close-Up wasn’t really organized when they planned the dance.
